What are Extended Services?
An extended school provides a range of services and activities, often beyond the school day to help meet the needs of children, their families and the wider community.
Your Extended Services Cluster Coordinator (ESCC) will work with the local authority, other schools and many organisations to offer access to a wide range of services and activities which support and motivate children and young people to achieve their full potential.
The core offer that all schools will be required to provide access to by 2010:
- A varied menu of activities
- Access to quality childcare through primary schools
- Community access to facilities
- Swift and easy access to specialised support
- Parenting support
The schools in the Hillmorton cluster are working hard to achieve this goal.
For more information please contact your ESCC, details are on the back of this leaflet.
Extended Services through schools are at the heart of the governments Every Child Matters (ECM) agenda, raising standards and ensuring that children:
Are healthy
Stay safe
Enjoy and achieve
Make a positive contribution
Achieve economic well-being
